My Story

About DIY Love

Creativity is stitched into my every fibre, and if I stop weaving it into the world, I tend to unravel, thread by thread.

Hey, I’m Melodie!

I come from a long line of creative women. My mom, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother all had their own artistic outlets (usually more than one), so creativity has always been woven into the fabric of our family. I grew up surrounded by it, where “making stuff” was just what you did on a Saturday afternoon, whether that meant scrapbooking, stamping cards, or decorating a cake.

One of my quirks (or toxic traits, depending on how you see it) is that whenever I spot something cool, my first thought is, “I can make that.” Sometimes it turns out great, sometimes it’s a total flop. But either way, the process is half the fun.

DIY Love is really a mash-up of all the arts and crafts I adore: greeting cards, stenciled wood signs, paint-by-numbers, woodworking, 3D printing, even miniature dollhouse making. But I built this site to share one of my favourite hobbies of all: teaching others how to stencil on wood.
